You’re making your holiday lists and checking them twice, but have you considered the hard workers behind the scenes that enable you to get everything done this season? It’s your feet! Here at Affiliated Foot & Ankle Care, we’d like to suggest that you consider a present to show your feet some appreciation for all that they do during this busy season and the whole rest of the year through.

Foot Massage—whether done professionally or by you, a foot massage can have many benefits. The ancient healing practice of reflexology correlates each part of your body to a spot on your foot—the thought being that foot massage can improve the health of your whole body. It also improves circulation, relieves foot pain, and just feels oh, so good.

Rich Moisturizer and Cozy Socks—during the winter months with the heat going full blast in your car, office, home, and stores, skin is more likely to get dry. Treat yourself to a thick, extra-emollient cream or lotion and apply to your feet before bed. Fuzzy socks will help the moisturizer get absorbed into your feet and keep them toasty.

New Shoes—the single biggest factor in foot health is footwear. Many people are wearing shoes that are worn out or don’t fit properly and this can cause pain, deformity, and other chronic conditions. Get your foot professionally measured and then invest in a pair of good quality shoes. Look for a pair made out of natural, soft materials with a roomy toe box and heels no higher than two inches.

A Podiatrist Appointment to Evaluate Foot Discomfort—the best gift you can give your feet is to seek treatment for foot pain and discomfort promptly. If you have been experiencing a foot or ankle problem, contact our Edison, Monroe, Monmouth Junction or Linden office in New Jersey for an appointment.  Call 732-662-3050 so that one of our podiatrists, Dr. Ben Gujral and Dr. Nrupa Shah, can examine your feet and prescribe the appropriate treatment.
